Informing personnel should include

  • identifying the chain of command
  • recognizing the seriousness of the issue
  • following employer policies
  • ensuring the individual’s supervisor or manager is notified in person or by additional means, using discretion.

  • What types of safety issues might you encounter at your potential job?
  • How should you handle an immediate safety incident, such as a fire or an intruder?
  • What organizations may assist in providing health and safety protection?
  • How would you expect to learn the company policies for handling various safety issues?
