Creating a plan should include
- applying specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) criteria for goal-setting
- short-term goals—typically a goal one can accomplish over a brief period or that requires few new skills
- long-term goal—typically a goal one can accomplish only through acquiring additional knowledge and skills, thorough preparation, and/or one that requires incremental achievements over a long period to accomplish
- outlining what success (i.e., goal accomplishment) entails.
