Safety practices should include

• proper draping of chemical services by applying towel under and over cape
• application of protective cream around hairline
• use of protective gloves
• consultation of the client's record card for pertinent information
• performance of a predisposition test (patch test)
• analysis of client's scalp and hair
• performance of strand test
• use of cleaned towels and implements
• removal of any lightener or color with cool damp cloth
• replacement of soiled towel with clean towel if necessary
• rinsing with cool tepid water
• adherence to manufacturer's directions and SDS.
