Safety practices should include
- proper draping of chemical services by applying towel under and over cape
- application of protective cream around hairline
- use of protective gloves
- consultation of the client's record card for pertinent information
- performance of a predisposition test (patch test)
- analysis of client's scalp and hair
- performance of strand test
- use of cleaned towels and implements
- removal of any lightener or color with cool damp cloth
- replacement of soiled towel with clean towel if necessary
- rinsing with cool tepid water
- adherence to manufacturer's directions and SDS.
