Demonstrate safe use of a minimum of five tools and/or equipment.
Demonstration should include
- following Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations
- following teacher’s classroom safety policies.
Demonstration may include applicable tools/equipment (e.g., measuring tools, drafting and design tools, 3D printers, lab equipment, basic hand tools).
Process/Skill Questions:
- Why is it important to use safe practices in the workplace?
- What are examples of safe practices in the workplace?
- What is the proper care and maintenance of tools, materials, and equipment?
- What is personal protective equipment (PPE)?
- Why is it important to remove jewelry in an industrial setting?
- Why aren’t flip-flops an acceptable shoe choice in a manufacturing lab?
- What should you do if you feel your safety is at risk?
