Demonstrate safe use of a minimum of five tools and/or equipment.

Demonstration should include

  • following Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations
  • following teacher’s classroom safety policies.

Demonstration may include applicable tools/equipment (e.g., measuring tools, drafting and design tools, 3D printers, lab equipment, basic hand tools).

Process/Skill Questions:

  • Why is it important to use safe practices in the workplace?
  • What are examples of safe practices in the workplace?
  • What is the proper care and maintenance of tools, materials, and equipment?
  • What is personal protective equipment (PPE)?
  • Why is it important to remove jewelry in an industrial setting?
  • Why aren’t flip-flops an acceptable shoe choice in a manufacturing lab?
  • What should you do if you feel your safety is at risk?
