Demonstration should include

• providing privacy and confidentiality
• promoting the client’s right to make personal choices
• stating the consequences of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) violation
• maintaining professional boundaries, to include the appropriate use of social media and electronic devices.

Process/Skill Questions:

• What resources are available to inform the nurse of the client’s rights?
• What steps can one take to provide privacy and confidentiality for the client?
• What are examples of ways one can encourage the client in decision-making?
• What actions should one take if the client’s rights are being violated?
• What are the consequences of misuse of social media and/or electronic devices?
