Identify characteristics of grounding systems.

Identification should be based on the NEC, and should include

  • explaining the purpose of grounding
  • distinguishing between a short circuit and a ground fault
  • defining a grounded circuit
  • explaining the requirements for physical protection of the grounding electrode conductor
  • defining made electrodes
  • explaining the use of a grounding electrode system
  • explaining the use of a main bonding jumper
  • distinguishing between grounding and bonding
  • explaining the purpose of the grounded conductor
  • explaining the requirements for grounding more than one building
  • explaining the requirements for grounding subpanels
  • grounding the secondary side of the transformer.
