Demonstrate safe use of maintenance tools and equipment.
Demonstration should include
- using required PPE
- identifying hazards associated with given maintenance procedures, tools, and equipment
- identifying OSHA color codes for marking physical hazards
- verifying all tools and equipment are in good operating condition, according to OSHA standards
- using required safety devices (e.g., guards and/or shields in place, tool rests adjusted)
- using language, symbols, and procedures related to the operation of equipment
- operating hand tools, power tools, equipment, and machinery following all safety procedures according to manufacturer specifications, industry-recommended practices, and instructor guidelines.
