Course Description:
Forensic science plays a crucial role in today's civil and criminal cases by collecting, documenting, testing and analyzing crime scene evidence using state-of-the-art technologies and techniques. This course provides an introduction to students who might be interested in forensic science careers in toxicology, serology, controlled substances, latent fingerprints, firearm/tool mark, DNA and document analysis, among others. Contextual instruction and student participation in co-curricular career and technical student organization (CTSO) activities will develop leadership, interpersonal, and career skills. High-quality work-based learning (HQWBL) will provide experiential learning opportunities related to students' career goals and/or interests, integrated with instruction, and performed in partnership with local businesses and organizations.
