Edit copy.

Editing should include

  • formatting the document for accessibility
  • reviewing punctuation
  • applying editing technology as appropriate (e.g., Track Changes, grammar software tools, spell check)
  • recognizing benefits of proofreading in addition to using spell check (e.g., to correct “Think you” when what is meant is “Thank you”)
  • reviewing copy using proofreaders’ marks
  • finalizing the draft.
