Prepare a résumé.
Preparation should reflect an awareness of digital résumé resources and should include
- educational background
- work or volunteer history
- honors and awards
- membership in club and/or school and community activities
- leadership positions held
- personal and professional references
- keywords.
Students should understand the importance of keeping a master résumé that includes all information from which résumés tailored to specific jobs can be created. They should also understand the importance of keeping one's résumé updated regardless of employment status.
Preparation should address whether and how individuals with disabilities may choose (or not choose) to disclose those disabilities to, and request accommodations from, employers.
