Patch a roof, using rolled roofing.
Patching should include the following steps:
- Measure and cut the amount of roofing material needed to repair the damaged area.
- Cut a slit in the existing roofing material above the damaged area.
- Slide the new piece of material into the slit.
- Hold the slit edge and remaining edges of the new roofing material up; apply cold tar or roof cement, and press the edges down.
- Nail the edges.
- Cover the nail heads and edges of the patch with roofing tar or sealer.
