Assessment should include

• product costs such as researching and summarizing all facets (e.g., materials, processes, systems, impacts, consequences)
• life cycle costs (e.g., how long the product or system will last, end-of-life disposal, preventive maintenance programs).

• What is a system life cycle?
• What are the consequences of failing to assess a system life cycle?
• What are the benefits of preventive maintenance?
• How could the disposal cost be calculated during development?
