Describe regulations related to use of seats, safety belts, and harnesses.
Description should include the following, regarding crew members:
- Each required flight crewmember of a United States-registered civil aircraft shall, during takeoff and landing, keep his or her shoulder harness fastened while at his or her assigned duty station. This does not apply if
- the seat at the crewmember's station is not equipped with a shoulder harness
- the crewmember would be unable to perform required duties with the shoulder harness fastened.
- Refer to 14 CFR § 91.105, Flight Crewmembers at Stations, for more information.
Description should also include the following, regarding passengers:
- 14 CFR § 91.107(a)(3) requires each passenger to occupy a seat or berth, to fasten his or her safety belt about him or her, and to keep it fastened while any “fasten seat belt” sign is lighted.
- Each passenger shall comply with instructions given him or her by crewmembers.
