Describe concerns related to night vision.
Description should include the following:
- There are many good reasons to fly at night, but pilots must keep in mind that the risks of night flying are different from and often higher than during the day.
- Pilots who are cautious and educated on night-flying techniques can mitigate those risks and become very comfortable and proficient in the task.
- Appropriate adjustment of cockpit lighting is key to the pilot establishing an effective night vision scan both inside in-flight AIM instruments and outside on the environment.
Process/Skill Questions:
- What is autokinesis? How can you prevent this?
- What is meant by the term false horizon?
