Practice should include

  • identifying safety concerns when using basic hand tools, power tools, precision tools, and specialty equipment
  • identifying components of machinery (e.g., guards, blades, moving parts, start/stop switches)
  • identifying standard safety procedures (i.e., classroom/lab practices and manufacturer recommendations)
  • observing a demonstration of the safe operation and use of each piece of machinery in the
  • identifying tool defects
  • notifying the instructor about heavily worn, broken, or malfunctioning tools.
