Course Description:
Opportunities in Global Trade, Advanced, a specialized course for students with a career interest in international trade, builds upon concepts learned in Opportunities in Global Trade (8135). Economic and international trade concepts are reviewed, and the global environment of international trade is further explored. Students expand their knowledge about the impact of culture on international trade and examine the legal and political aspects of international marketing and global commerce. Students will work through the components of developing an international marketing plan; product planning, distribution strategies, pricing and payments, and promotion strategies to create a plan for presentation to a local business partner. A review of skills and preparation required for careers in international marketing complete this course.
Contextual instruction and student participation in co-curricular career and technical student organization (CTSO) activities will develop leadership, interpersonal, and career skills. High-quality work-based learning (HQWBL) will provide experiential learning opportunities related to students' career goals and/or interests, integrated with instruction, and performed in partnership with local businesses and organizations.
