Demonstration should include

• identifying the five rightsof assisting a patient with administration of their medication
• assisting with giving medication to a patient
• administering medication to a patient
• using a medication cross-check procedure
• using an autoinjector
• using a unit-dose, premeasured intranasal device
• providing pain management, including ethical and safety considerations
• describing routes of administration.

• What is the importance of the five rightsof assisting the patient with the administration of medications?
• How would an EMT assist with or administer medications that are within the EMT’s scope of practice?
• What should an EMT do if they believe medical control provided an incorrect dosage?
