Demonstrate management of wounds to the abdomen and genitourinary system.
Demonstration should include pathophysiology, assessment, and management of
- abdominal and genitourinary wounds caused by blunt mechanisms compared to those caused by penetrating mechanisms
- evisceration
- impaled object
- solid and hollow organ injuries
- injuries to the internal or external genitalia.
Demonstration should also include psychosocial aspects of age-related assessment and treatment modifications for the major or common diseases and/or emergencies associated with pediatric and geriatric patients.

- What organs are in each of the abdominal quadrants?
- How is abdominal evisceration properly managed?
- What are some general guidelines an EMT should follow in managing bleeding from a wound to the external genitalia?
