Development of a plan should include researching

• job opportunities
• stability of the job
• projected number of workers needed for the job
• the knowledge and skills required for the job.

The plan should also demonstrate an understanding of the concept of a career path (a progression of related jobs with increasing skill requirements and responsibility).
