Course Description:
The biomedical engineering course focuses on the applications of engineering principles to solve problems in medicine and biology for healthcare purposes. Students engage in the design of a variety of biomedical engineering solutions such as prosthetics, assistive devices, and clinical instruments. Students explore the applications of emerging technologies (e.g., replacement organs, wearables, and artificial intelligence [AI]) to biomedical engineering. Students explore career and postsecondary education opportunities related to the field. Contextual instruction and student participation in co-curricular career and technical student organization (CTSO) activities will develop leadership, interpersonal, and career skills. High-quality work-based learning (HQWBL) will provide experiential learning opportunities related to students' career goals and/or interests, integrated with instruction, and performed in partnership with local businesses and organizations.
