Identify a person in crisis.
Identification should include
- defining crisis as a situation in which an individual is unable to cope with internal and external stimuli, creating an inability to function at a reasonable level, thus creating a risk of harm to themselves or others (Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services)
- naming examples of crises (e.g., domestic assault, drug-related crisis, mental health-related crisis, missing persons, death notification).
Process/Skill Questions:
- What is a crisis intervention team?
- What are signs that a person may be suicidal?
