Evaluation should include recognizing behaviors and symptoms in oneself and in others that indicate

  • physical health
  • mental health
  • social and emotional health
  • behavioral health
    • substance use/abuse
    • aberrant behavior (e.g., workplace violence, temper, unsafe vehicle operation)
    • fatigue.

Process/Skill Questions:

  • What legal substances are permissible in the state but not safe to use in an energy work environment?
  • What are the Americans with Disabilities (ADA) and OSHA requirements for fitness for duty?
  • What are the guidelines for mitigating employee fatigue in the Department of Transportation (DOT) Fatigue Management Program?
