Preparation could include
- evaluating the kind of portfolio needed
- selecting a format for sharing the portfolio (e.g., hard copy, electronic)
- student competency records and results of career exploration activities to inform a personal vision statement
- cover letter and résumé
- letters of recommendation
- collection of exemplary classroom work, certificates, and awards
- records of participation in school- or community-related activities
- industry credential certificates or licenses
- summaries of relevant work-based learning experiences (e.g., job shadowing, service learning, internship)
- examples of skills (e.g., photos of finished projects).
