Demonstration should include an explanation of asepsis and standard precautions in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines related to
- hand hygiene
- personal protective equipment (PPE), including masks, gloves, gowns, eye protection, and face shields
- exposure and safe injectioncontact, droplet, and airborne particles.
Process/Skill Questions:
- What are the essential features of hand washing?
- What are the most common types of PPE? When is each necessary?
- What client situations may require the use of higher-level precautions?
