Following safety procedures and protocols should include
- explaining general safety
- discussing classroom/laboratory rules and procedures
- identifying potential safety hazards in the classroom, lab, and land lab
- physical
- chemical
- biological
- ergonomic
- electrical
- passing all required safety tests with 100 percent accuracy for general safety and for all tools, machinery, and equipment used
- using and maintaining personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
- recognizing
- relevant evacuation routes
- fire extinguisher location(s)
- first-aid kit/station location(s)
- explaining environmental considerations for workers in the turfgrass industry (e.g., weather, heat, cold, air water quality) and how these impact an employee’s ability to complete job assignments
- adhering to industry-recommended safety practices and guidelines when using tools, machinery, equipment, and other supplies in the classroom, lab, greenhouse, and/or land lab.
