Shoot a location interview.

Shooting should include

  • calibrating the recording equipment (e.g., mic check)
  • using a variety of shots (e.g., cutaways, reversals, over the shoulder [OTS], rule of thirds)
  • considering location parameters (e.g., lighting, framing, background noise)
  • re-wording the questions to solicit concise statements from the interviewee
  • providing an opportunity for additional thoughts from the interviewee
  • providing a statement of the subject’s identification and the date of the interview (i.e., documentation).
