determining the joint type (e.g., reinforced-butt, lap) for the weld (e.g., plug, butt weld with and without backing, fillet)
determining the type of weld (i.e., continuous, reinforced-butt, and plug) for each welding operation
performing welds, such as

- stitch
- tack
- plug
- spot
- reinforced-butt
- lap joints
