Performance should include

using PPE (e.g., gloves, lab coat, eye protection)
following universal precautions and all standard veterinary laboratory and sanitation protocols
selecting appropriate flotation solutions (e.g., simulated sodium nitrate, simulated zinc sulfate)
collecting, preparing, handling, labeling, and storing simulated fecal samples, using biohazard precautions (using simulants or homemade simulated stool)
following established laboratory steps
- mixing simulated fecal material with simulated flotation medium
- straining to remove debris
- filling flotation devices to form a positive meniscus
- placing a coverslip for egg collection
using a microscope with correct magnification and systematic scanning patterns to identify and document parasitic ova and debris
following biohazard disposal protocols and disinfection of all surfaces according to OSHA and CDC guidelines.
