Performance should include

• orienting the map
• determining one’s location
• locating positions on a map
• navigating using a lensatic compass
• following a compass azimuth during the day
• terrain association and dead reckoning
• identifying key elements of a map
• identifying an azimuth and individual pace count from one point to another to measure distance.

Process/Skill Questions:

• What is the heading and pace count from a designated point to another?
• What method of navigation should one use with easily identifiable terrain features?
• Why is it important to know a back azimuth?
