Plan a solution to an engineering design problem, as part of a team.

Planning should include

  • defining an engineering design problem that your team wants to solve
  • defining the job description of each member of your team
  • brainstorming and researching possible solutions for the engineering design problem
  • planning the chosen solution
    • identifying resources needed to produce the design (e.g., tools, energy, materials, people, time, information, and capital)
    • illustrating the chosen solution, using sketches or drawings
  • predicting how the design will work.

Process/Skill Questions:

  • Why is it useful to work in teams?
  • Why are job descriptions for each member important?
  • How do communication and cooperation within a team help them meet goals and objectives?
  • How can differences be resolved when group members disagree with one another? How can disagreement be beneficial?
