Course Description:

This course focuses on biotechnology principles and the techniques used in agricultural and environmental science. Students demonstrate bioprocessing, deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) analysis, bioengineering, and forensic analysis as they gain insight and understanding about biotechnology as it relates to agricultural and environmental science careers within the Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources (AFNR) career cluster. Contextual instruction and student participation in co-curricular career and technical student organization (CTSO) activities will develop leadership, interpersonal, and career skills. High-quality work-based learning (HQWBL) will provide experiential learning opportunities related to students' career goals and/or interests, integrated with instruction, and performed in partnership with local businesses and organizations.

Note: Competencies within this course ensure compliance with the National FFA Organization's Federal Charter Amendments Act (Public Law 116-7). Through this legislation, students are provided opportunities for leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education.
