Course Description:

In Air Traffic Controller, students will be introduced to the skills necessary to ensure the safe, orderly, and expeditious flow of manned and unmanned air traffic. They will explore the role of air traffic controllers within the National Airspace System (NAS), as well as training and career opportunities in this field. Instruction will include the function and history of air traffic control (ATC), responsibilities and priority of duties, meteorology, emergency situations, and related topics. This course will provide an introduction for students interested in careers in ATC and related jobs. Contextual instruction and student participation in co-curricular career and technical student organization (CTSO) activities will develop leadership, interpersonal, and career skills. High-quality work-based learning (HQWBL) will provide experiential learning opportunities related to students' career goals and/or interests, integrated with instruction, and performed in partnership with local businesses and organizations.
