Course Description:
In Hospitality, Tourism, and Recreation I, students prepare for careers in this global industry by exploring marketing and sales strategies, lodging, the food and beverage industry, and conference and event planning. Students also investigate related ethical and legal considerations and the necessary skills for a successful career in hospitality. Contextual instruction and student participation in co-curricular career and technical student organization (CTSO) activities will develop leadership, interpersonal, and career skills. High-quality work-based learning (HQWBL) will provide experiential learning opportunities related to students' career goals and/or interests, integrated with instruction, and performed in partnership with local businesses and organizations.
