Course Description:
This program provides the knowledge and the hands-on skills needed to secure a job as a construction equipment operator. Students demonstrate site grading and development, excavation, drainage, and pipe laying. They study soil, learn to read blueprints, and gain experience in operating bulldozers, backhoes, front-end loaders, excavators, and skid steers. Contextual instruction and student participation in co-curricular career and technical student organization (CTSO) activities will develop leadership, interpersonal, and career skills. High-quality work-based learning (HQWBL) will provide experiential learning opportunities related to students' career goals and/or interests, integrated with instruction, and performed in partnership with local businesses and organizations.
