Describe the different soil types.
Description should include the following:
- Stable rock
- Type A—cohesive soils with an unconfined compressive strength of 1.5 tons per square foot (tsf) or greater, such as clay, silty clay, sandy clay
- Type B—cohesive soils with unconfined compressive strength greater than .5 tsf but less than 1.5 tsf
- Type C— cohesive soils with unconfined compressive strength .5 tsf or lower

Process/Skill Questions:
- What are the sloping recommendations for each soil type?
- What potential hazards are associated with each of the soil types?
