Geocoding may include

  • assigning a street address to a location
  • coding the location of an object, such as an address, a census tract, a postal code, or x, y coordinates
  • converting x, y coordinates to spatial data
  • using building footprint data to create centroids
  • assessing the accuracy of geocoding.
