Course Description:

Fixed operations refer to the revenue-generating departments of a dealership outside of vehicle sales, including parts, service, and collision repair. In this course, students will build essential customer service skills such as managing expectations, scheduling appointments, and promoting additional services using service writing software to ensure accurate documentation of repairs and maintenance. They will also explore the role of a parts specialist, gaining experience in parts identification, inventory control, and sales strategies. Through the lens of the service advisor role, students will examine the operations of maintenance and repair and collision repair centers, learning how to assess vehicle service and repair needs; communicate complex automotive issues in clear, customer-friendly language; and prepare accurate estimates. Contextual instruction and student participation in co-curricular career and technical student organization (CTSO) activities will develop leadership, interpersonal, and career skills. High-quality work-based learning (HQWBL) will provide experiential learning opportunities related to students' career goals and/or interests, integrated with instruction, and performed in partnership with local businesses and organizations.
